Cleaning a rug is pretty simple, but you do not to know the best course of action if you want to prolong the life expectancy of the rugs in your house. First of all, it is important to learn about the techniques that actually tend to do your rugs more harm than good when you are trying to clean them.

For instance, taking the rugs outside and beating them to rid them of dust and dirt simply won’t do. This technique is much more likely to cause damage to the fibres of your rugs and they will end up threadbare long before they should be. You need to treat your rugs more gently.

Vacuum cleaners are actually incredibly good when it comes to cleaning rugs gently. They rid them of dirt at the same time as fluffing the fibres up to make your rug appear nice and thick. This is something you can do in a matter of minutes and it keeps you rugs in good nick.

Another course of action you can take when your rugs are particularly dirty is professional cleaning. Most rugs can be taken to professionals for cleaning and this just helps to get to those difficult to reach places.
